February 29, 2000, Cramer said, "You want my top 10 stocks for who is going to make it in the new world?" Cramer then insisted on listing the entire group as if offering the rarest gems. The list included Ariba, Digital Island, Exodus Communications, Infospace, Inktomi, Mercury Interactive, Verisign, and Veritas. Cramer concluded by claiming he loved his list so much he would rather not own any other stocks. Just eight trading days later the Nasdaq peaked and crashed. Ariba, Infosapce, Digital Island, and Exodus are down more than 90%. The best performer in Cramer's list, Mercury Interactive, has lost 'only' 38%."

This article is ridiculous. The Naz crashed every few months in the late '90s only to recover in the next few days. By 2000, tech had been running hard for several years. Every year Cramer makes predictions on what stocks will move up.......so its not surprising that in 2000, many if not all of his picks were Naz stocks. However, after he made his 2000 prediction, Cramer reversed course and said sell everything tech....few listened to him including me. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the few prescient predictions for the Naz in 2000.

Cramer is one of the best stock pickers on the Street but that doesn't mean he's infallible. More importantly, where he's at his greatest is knowing where the market is going. His instincts are uncanny backed up by years of experience and some of the best investors in biz. Having said that, I have no intention of defending Cramer other than to say that if you actively invest in stocks and don't belong to his website, you are only hurting yourself.
