Unfortunately, this area is very difficult to break into. Anyone who would want to introduce a new product would have to persuade a lot of banks and other financial companies to support their download/update interface. This is pretty much impossible to achieve.

With all the grumbling about Intuit - and I hate their forced upgrades as much as everyone - I don't see an alternative. Either you use Quicken or MS Money or you do your financials practically by hand, or you don't plan and reconcile your finances at all.

As an off-topic: a lot of people push the idea of software-as-a-service. Unfortunately, antivirus companies and Quicken/MSM show what's really behind "software-as-a-service" business models: customer is forced to pay and pay and pay. Be careful what you wish for. ;)
