By an odd coincidence, the GTZ short darling, Northern Rock is up 50% to 100 after buyout talks. It is basically the only stock being green. Hedge funds scramble to cover NRK.

Otherwise the SP fell far below 1300 and the average stock in Europe loses 3%

MT, US Steel etc. Steelmakers are in a cyclical downturn and therefore must be shorted. Especially, MT is overrated. I am shorting more steel factories.

It is impossible that the financial engineering solved all the problems of an ailing European steel cooker. This brinkmanship can not pay off in the on going recession.

I am always wary if cash flows do not match stated earnings, as it is the case for MT. MT has significant debt, too. They can not compete with chinese steelmakers and otherwise operate in outgrown economies.

Why is it that MT reminds me so much on Sears Kmart.
