I expect a week of carnage, death and destruction.

The markets will realize that it is not the end of the world by Friday, and things will become a bit more rational.

The markets are oversold, but 'oversold' defines a crash so I put little faith in that nugget of putative wisdom.

I don't know if I will be trading in my gold, Yen, Swiss Frs, and cash for shares just yet. But I will assuredly look at Q if it reaches low 30s, 20s. A mountain of cash, no debt, the fact that it is about to put the screws to Nokia plus the indisuputable notion that cell phones are as necessary to modern life as air and food, all militate strongly in favor of buying it should it get ultra cheap.

After a crash, there is usually a period of time which follows during which the bones of the dead littering the battlefield can be picked. This week may be that time. I predict that vultures and those exercising VVV will all be equally rewarded this week regardless of their relative moral merits while the profligate and the blind will be mercilessly punished also regardless of their own moral merits. Markets just don't care about your politics, the state of your soul, or whether you are the reincarnation of Mother Theresa.

PS: I hate to sound so damned bloody, amoral and funereal. Markets are after all not abattoirs, though you will be hard pressed to find much of a difference between them this week.
