I think Christine Comer's firing was appropriate. Why should the TEA promote atheism and secular humanism under the guise of science?

Thats what the Center for Inquiry and Barbara Forrest is all about. Look at the Center for Inquiry's website and you can see their affiliates are:

• Committee for Skeptical Inquiry
• Council for Secular Humanism
• Commission for Scientific Medicine and Mental Health
• The Committee for the Scientific Examination of Religion

Thank you Rambi..

That link required registration, and being a good conservative I'd never consider registering with the NYTs. -gg-

I can certainly understand keeping the two separate in a single classroom setting, and people who wish to ban teaching either one are, as I said frightened bullies imo.

Interestingly, 112 articles came up when I googled "evolution ban", and 87,100 articles came up when I googled "Intelligent Design ban." So I'd say the cards are certainly stacked against people of religion.

It really doesn't matter to me one way or another whether ID is taught in schools. But I believe they are both important, and I really think people would benefit greatly if allowed to learn and understand both subjects.

Why these warring (and intolerant) factions cannot reach a compromise is another subject.

Re Christine Comer in the NY Times Oped - not a martyr as it indicated:

Newly Released Internal Documents Indicate Former TEA Official Chris Comer Resigned Over Misconduct and Insubordination Issues--Not Over Her Views on Evolution
