In retrospect the smartest guy was Mark McGwire

"I'm not here to talk about the past"

Then he got the hell out of Dodge.

Clemens will go down in a giant flame ball.

Our society is based on innocent until proven guilty. With Bonds there were always red flags (weight gain, increase in power, Balco records with his name on it, etc.) With Clements, we just have one guy saying he injected him a few times over the years. That's not much at all.

Say for the sake of argument that you were accused of something you didn't do. Would you proclaim your innocence? I would. Would you go on 60 Minutes if they asked you? Sure. Would you testify before Congress if asked? Why not? In other words, how is an innocent man supposed to act any differently?

As for the article, it's full of logic holes trying to find holes in Clemens' logic. Yes, I was disappointed that the bugged phone call was not more revealing. I'd have asked point blank why the guy saw fit to lie about me and to apologize to me right now. The problem is that lawyers tell you you can't ask leading questions and expect the answers to be admissible in court. You just have to say "tell the truth."

That doesn't mean I know for sure Clemens is innocent. But I don't know for sure you are not a space alien here to find Orion's belt. The point is that we need to never forget the burden of proof is on the accuser.
