In the broader picture, both Varghese and Schroeder, author of The Hidden Face of God, argue from the fine-tuning of the universe that it is impossible to explain the origin of life without God.

That does not seem to be proof of God to me; it's a fall back position saying that we can't yet fully explain something so it must be God. There have been through the ages many things credited to gods which were then explained or proved and which I will look for the Hidden Face of God. It sounds interesting.

>>from the fine-tuning of the universe that it is impossible to explain the origin of life without God<<

I like to think our universe is just last year's school science project by some student from a far superior civilization. Kind of like that little ecosystem of swamp water and algae I created in a jar for Biology 101. Sitting on the desk as a paperweight now, but it's still ticking.
