Calgary is well known for it's strange weather, because of our proximity to the mountains we get Chinook winds ( en.wikipedia.org ) , you be -20 one day and +20 the next.

Chinook winds also produce a distinct arch in the clouds and make for some nice sunsets:

Also, one year we had snow every month of the year, mind you it didn't stay very long during the summer, but that was a weird year for weather. Then there are the hail storms.

When I was a kid we had lots of snow to play in, now we don't get very much. We are also know to get large dumps of snow in May, resulting in breaking limbs off trees and bringing down power lines, and melting quickly resulting in some flooding of basements. The photo you posted was taken in May, most likely after one of those freak storms.
