I'm not Mike but I'll chime in. It's understandable for coincident inflation and inflation expectations to ebb at the cusp of a downturn. Even lay people readily grasp the notion that price increases are an absurdity in the face of declining sales. However, if the Fed is successful at engineering a very shallow "recession" then this rough patch will be but a blip in the broad inflation landscape. In other words, the Fed should be careful what it wishes for.
