SAN DIEGO—Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee picked up an endorsement Wednesday from former GOP candidate Duncan Hunter.
The San Diego-area congressman said he thought the former Arkansas governor was most committed to strengthening national defense, getting a fence built along the U.S.-Mexico border and dealing with China's role as an emerging economic and military superpower.

Those were the core issues of Hunter's longshot bid for the GOP nomination, which ended Saturday after his poor showing in the Nevada caucuses and the South Carolina primary.

Hunter said he would return to Capitol Hill, where he is the ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, to work on the upcoming defense authorization bill.

Spokesman Gary Becks said he didn't know if the congressman planned to campaign with Huckabee.
