IMO both Obama and Hillary are preferable to anybody the Republicans will put up but with Hillary I am more certain about the future than with Obama.

Well, she has to win the general....and I think that this entire mud slinging effort has reduced the chances of that happening. I have never been likely to vote for Hillary, but the last six months of '07 did quite a bit in reducing her negatives. She could stay above the fray as the front runner and just give policy answers....which where generally moderate in their stance.

However, the last month has reminded me why I dont want another four years of the Clinton's.

FWIW, an anecdotal story....I spent some time with a college friend of mine who is a die-hard Republican. When the conversation turned to politics, I was literally stunned to hear that he thought he would probably vote for Obama. He disliked all of the Republican candidates and Obama's speeches had inspired him enough to overlook the liberal policies. There is zero chance he will vote for Hillary....he'll end up voting for any of the Republican candidates if she is the nominee.
