John;

I certainly wouldn't call taking the US from the largest creditor nation to the largest debtor nation a fix.

Who has been perhaps the loudest voice discussing the evils of public debt here? There is a difference however in using debt to prevent something worse - and that is what Reagan did. Can you imagine our economy today if the spiralling cost of 17% mortgages and inflation pushing at 10%? How soon we forget.

The economy crashed when the the back of inflation was broken under Reagan. The recession was awful. It could have been worse. But what Reagan did - and what Obama was explaining - is that Reagan did what he had to and did so with the support of the people.

I will freely and gladly admit that Reagan ran the deficits too long - I have said that. However, the point being made was Obama was explaining that Reagan did what he did by bringing people together - not polarizing people.
