I wish Apple would split the stock as is. I think using the excuse that Google and Berkshire Hathaway don't split their stocks as reason for Apple not to do it is foolish. For one, it would dampen these huge price swings that grab headlines. Sure, if the stock were 1/2 or 1/3 the price, the percentage of decline might be the same, but psychologically it doesn't look as bad to Joe and Martha Sixpack.

I'm hoping for a shareholder resolution to split the stock, regardless of what Steve Jobs thinks is right -- assuming at the time of the shareholder's meeting that AAPL is still well above $100 share. Steve seems to have forgotten that stocks splits and a lower price generate excitement and investment.
