Perhaps.

Perhaps the eccentricities of the Mormons have become better known.

I wondered about that a couple of months ago so I asked an old timer about it. He told me that the elder Romney dropped out so early there wasn't time to throw any dirt on him.

But I wonder if the "I was brain washed" quote had special resonance coming from a Mormon.

Yes, we have taken a step back.

Part of the reason are the the recent terrorist attacks and movement fueled by the radical jihadists. These have made us more aware and suspicious of religion in whatever form.

Another part of this is the media that feeds on controversey creating and fueling the same, such as the criticisms lobbed at Christians by the media and by the liberal wing of the Democrat Party and yes even some in the Republican Party.

Many of those Christians are in my home state of Virginia. They come from all races of people. They are our friends, relatives, business people, farmers, military, policeman, teachers----etc.

Those who criticize them for their beliefs do so from their ivory-towers of self-perceived superiority and ignorance.
