I'm recalling this from memory but back then, it was identified that there were problems. However, I don't think they decided to replace it until 2001 or 2002.

Dude, don't turn this into a partisan thing.....its a serious issue......there are a lot of bridges...probably some where you live.....that could come tumbling down when you least expect it due to an antiquated design and/or metal fatigue.
