American-backed Sunni militias who have fought Sunni extremists to a standstill in some of Iraq’s bloodiest battlegrounds are being hit with a wave of assassinations and bomb attacks Yes its called war. In war "the enemy gets a vote". They will try to kill you and defeat you. The point is now the Sunni sheiks and other local leaders, and a large part of the population is on our side, telling us where to find the enemy, instead of working on the other side. That's why they are getting attacked.
