The men on this thread seem amazing..Ish does it all, Oral cooks all the time, Many Moose seems to be helping his wife all the time, and of course, Ken does it all now, but it sounds as if he did a lot when his wife was around. All in all, I think the men on this thread are a cut above

And likely the reason we are still married to wife number 1:)

I don't think Bryan Caplan's point was that men shouldn't help out around the house (it certainly wouldn't be my point), but rather that its not reasonable for the woman to set the desired level of cleanliness far higher than the man, and than unilaterally impose it, and insist that the guy should do half of the work required to meet that standard. Its esp. not reasonable if any time the gut tries to work she criticizes his work because he has different ideas about how to do it.

It doesn't have to be men and women in those specific roles. You could have a sloppy woman and a neat freak guy, I just use the stereotype as an example because Caplan did, and because the stereotype, like many stereotypes, is far from perfect but reflects reality to an extent (women tend to care more about house cleaning, even if this isn't always the case)

and run the vacuum at least three times a week,

What if he's willing to do all the vacuuming, but he is of the opinion that once a week is enough?
