I was assuming a purely social call with no financial renumeration.

And I was assuming some of the worst examples that you see on those shows, to the point where the house is at least close to being hazardous.

Another general comment. If the couple simply can't agree on how much housework should be done, and they have sufficient income, they could hire a maid to make up for the <slacker/reasonable person>'s lower desire to work than the <person who likes a normal clean house/obsessive neat freak>. It would seem to be worth relieving the stress of the conflict, assuming that how clean the house is, is really the issue, and it isn't a proxy for some other concern. Of course if it is just a proxy they will probably find something else to fight about.
