I'm convinced it has been a bear market since 2000
despite the nominal bull market of 2002-2007, since the
gold-denominated price has been constantly dropping.

A way to look at things, but the market also rose while gold rose, too, just not as much, so I wonder if saying that we've been in a bear market though it is a rising market is quite correct.

Both were bull markets, at least recently, except one was a big one while the other was a wuss.

The market has given us the illusion of prosperity.
