I think if you absolutely believed that you got to heaven, then perhaps it wouldn't be brave. But who "absolutely" believes like that? I think the leap of faith takes some bravery- at least where the cost of the leap is the life of the here and now, which is a thing certain. I suppose if the faith is absolute, and with no doubt, maybe there is no bravery- which means, of course, that saints who believe absolutely (for example) aren't brave.

I don't have a problem with bravery being selfish. I think everything people do is selfish. I don't see selfishness as incompatible with bravery.

Just my opinion of course.
