Spansion stock is more like a leap option (exactly what I'm also thinking):

With Spansion and Saifun now commanding a combined market cap of around $550 million, less than half of Saifun's market cap alone when it was at its peak, Spansion's share price probably can't fall much further. Moreover, if it transpires at a later stage that Saifun's technology is indeed a solution that can work well with NAND once production geometries are lowered significantly within two to three years, the upside could resemble that on a call option, meaning a massive rise.

UTStarcom Names Spansion Strategic Supplier for 2007
Monday January 28, 8:00 am ET

BEIJING, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Spansion Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSN - News), the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, today announced that it has received the Strategic Supplier Award from UTStarcom (China) Co., LTD for 2007. Spansion is the only NOR Flash memory supplier that has been selected.

The Strategic Supplier Award, UTStarcom's highest form of recognition for its suppliers, represents an important acknowledgement of Spansion's commitment to providing advanced Flash memory solutions and customer support to UTStarcom, a global leader in manufacturing, integration and support of IP-based, end-to-end networking and telecommunications solutions.

"As our strategic supplier, Spansion has made valuable contributions to the successful development of UTStarcom products by providing innovative Flash memory solutions and strong technical support," Jimmy Khoo, senior vice president, global supply chain at UTStarcom. "The exceptional performance of Spansion's product offering, as well as the reliable supply, has enabled us to bring advanced products to market in a timely manner to address the demands of our customers."

Spansion has been the Flash memory supplier of UTStarcom for more than four years, providing a range of MirrorBit® technology-based NOR Flash memory products, including a low-density solution for UTStarcom's PHS products targeting the China market, where the market demand for PHS products has been growing significantly. Spansion also provides high-density NOR Flash memory products for UTStarcom's CDMA mobile phone in North America.

[OK, so SPSN's been doing business with them a long time.]

Spansion's proprietary MirrorBit technology stores charges in two distinct locations on a non-conducting nitride storage medium to deliver fundamental cost, quality and manufacturing advantages and competitiveness. Spansion recently unveiled its revolutionary MirrorBit Eclipse(TM) architecture that combines MirrorBit NOR, ORNAND(TM) and Quad Flash memory on a single die. Compatible with other MirrorBit based products, the MirrorBit Eclipse architecture can be adopted quickly to empower feature phones and multimedia portable devices with a high performance and help OEMs reduce BOM costs significantly. Spansion is targeting adoption from Chinese OEMs in the near future.
