I see plenty of other outcomes.

The US, broke as it is, still owns a LOT OF STUFF.

We will sell it and there are buyers. Yes it will cause a standard of living re-adjustment. But not the end of the world as we know it.

Those of us up to our eyeballs in gold will do just fine, lol.
