If you give control of your medical care to the state, then the state controls the medical care you receive.

It is already reality - for a long time. Medicare and Medicaid are running the show. They hand down lists of what they will cover, and how much they'll pay. So called "private" insurers are doing the same and pick and choose items and amounts in such a way as to increase their bottom line (without obviously killing anyone).

I've been saying for many, many years that since most health care dollars come from third parties, this means that we already have socialized medicine - it is merely a matter of bringing it all under a common denominator.
