I've been meeting plenty of people, politicians and not, who believe in all of those bad things. They have controlled the starting point of the conversation. It used to be different. It can be again. Conservatism is a human frame of mind. So is liberalism. Hell, so is "I'm a better person than everyone else because I'm staying above the fray" centrism. You think Hill has a better chance of changing the debate? Do you think that she is so significantly more liberal that it's worth giving up on someone that can mobilize the electorate, rather than divide them? You need a quarterback, not an offensive lineman. You need to throw a touchdown, not gain a 3 yards. Obama is exciting independents, young folks, even the old time Republicans. Hill is old school. If we have to settle for her, OK. But in the meantime...
