"but you see a lot of the Reps a lot more positively than I do..."

They are all in a straight jacket. They have to take certain stances in public if they want to have even a small prayer of getting the base. Given that their base is fragmenting, finding common ground isn't easy for anyone but Mitt. He apparently can pull off changing his message to each group he talks to without having the press get all over it. Which might make him the Republican candidate.

Besides, none of them have a chance. Why kick them while they are down?

They can't capture their base this time around. Hillary scares enough of the conservatives that they would have a better chance running against her than anyone else. But that is only a little bit better. Obama would be tough, he just hasn't been around long enough for there to be real dirt on him. They can try to attack his lack of experience, but that never really resonates for some reason. There is always Edwards and his hair. But, with Romney the likely candidate, that will be a dangerous tact to take. I doubt if Mitt spends as little as $100 on his haircuts...

And that assumes that they can hold the economy together through the elections. And, who knows? They might.
