The Mexican border situation really hasn't changed in hundreds of years. And the dirty secret is that economies on both sides of that border are dependent upon smuggling of humans, drugs and other other contraband. Also, our great agricultural economy is totally dependent on wetback labor. Always has been. That's; why Reagan gave them amnesty and why in 1995 GW Bush said "if they can get across the Rio Grande, we'll take them". But hey, the way our economy's going maybe they'll stay home now.
