The lure of corn for fuel is just causing another bubble.

There is no one answer to getting us energy independent. Has to be multi-tiered.

Actually, I don't think the food shortage argument is the most compelling one. The real reason why it's a dumb idea is that it is not an energy efficient way to create fuel. From a scientists perspective, there are better ways: switchgrass, sugar, hydrogen. Or my favorite, nuclear power stations and plug-in, 100% electric cars.
