Suppose you should ask the great 'middle' of the American electorate --- the LARGEST political group, larger then either Dems or Reps, the Independents. For, it seems to be there where historically his support has been strongest. (Just as a quick personal aside however... I generally believe that the American public is usually pretty quickly turned-off by people who they perceive as being liars or panderers, or 'slick, empty suits' of any kind. Americans generally appreciate being spoken to more honestly... and that may have something to do with it.)
