When we were in Fort Lauderdale for 2 weeks in December, we stayed at a very nice small resort where the owners also operated a real estate company in Naples. They said prices were off 50%-60% from their highs in Naples and 25%-30% in South Florida. Until a couple of years ago, they said they just bought homes, renovated them and sold them for a quick profit. That cycle lasted 15 years, according to them, till a few years ago. Too bad they got stuck overpaying for the resort they bought at the peak of the market!
