I've got news for you, the only person whose thoughts you might have a shot at knowing, is yourself.

I infer bravery in the actions of people who have no obvious reason to wish they were dead. It's true that on occasion they might not really be acting without regard to safety or death, but on balance, it's probably a fair inference to make. I don't particularly value bravery- it's value is completely situation dependent for me, so it doesn't really matter to me who comes up "brave" or not.
