You are saying that only store of value would be the money under the matresse. Which brings us to the point discussed before inflation.

Store value means keep your money safe from inflation. Thus seeking an asset whose price -at least- is going to increase to compensate from inflation and hopefully increase above inflation.

Economics, the dismal science, is more dismall than sceince.
