Peter....the SI neighborhood would stink far less if there was free speech encouraged on this web site rather than un-American bans from both the right and left which serve no use whatsoever than to try to silence honest debate in a supposedly free society. SI itself tolerates activities among its members that would never hold up in a constitutional debate or in any court and so rather than take money from subscribers and then allow members to limit participation of fully paid subscribers is to allow discrimination by bullies of all persuasions and mob rule. There is no justification for this kind of censorship in an American based forum. It happens on other sites as well to be fair but most sites have an ignore button if someone wants to shut someone out so they don't have to read them. That should be enough. SI needs to be encouraged to set an example and do the right thing and stop policing these boards or letting moderators act as dictators while it pretends to provide an egalitarian service. It should let people enjoy the service they paid good money for rather than allow some people to act as policemen as if they owned their boards rather than SI itself owning them. SI...what is the actual intent of the ban as opposed to letting people decide who they want to read and who they want to ignore?
