BS, I think "self-aware" is an unimportant idea. An input is received, it's recorded, compared with other data and the programme management systems, then an output is provided. Now that cyberspace is doing that, it's just a matter of degree before we can say "self-aware". I don't think there is a definite transition in DNA which can be said to turn on "self-awareness" or "consciousness" like a light switch. Same for cyberspace. Mqurice
