I will retain my hope a little while longer that maybe, just maybe, twelve months from now we will have a political scene where the more gratuitous crap-slinging is marginalized more and more to the point where the rest of us can just ignore it.

I don't expect the hate-talk industry to die off because it is very profitable within its target audience. But its relevance will hopefully fade away dramatically, if we have someone in the White House who eschews the whole attack machine game.

But really, can you ever have too much ugliness? If the Clinton years taught us anything it was that things, and people, can always get a little more ugly and vicious.
