I'm again amazed at your economic ignorance. Things happen in your view because evil people do evil things. You have the economic understanding of a 4 year old. For example, the S&L problem had many causes, one of which was the collapse in real estate prices in the TX, LA, OK area due to falling energy prices. As for "unChristian materialistic lusts" you liberals view those as virtues. Hey, you even make your living on that kind of thing. Re. central America, the Democrats failed to install communist regimes throughout the region, something we can all be grateful for.
