As usual Steve you are right on the mark. And you sort of allude to the largest problem: In the last few years the US has virtually destroyed Iraq. 5 million, or more displaced, neighborhoods colescing along tribal lines, hundreds of thousands killed and injured and the social and infrastucture terribly damaged and we even exacerbated the hatred between the sunnie and shia. They did nothing to us! And how did this happen? It happened because this administration tied Iraq to 9/11 which was a bold faced lie (that 50% of the people still believe as the administration continues to perpetuate it and GW did yet again last night); and the people went on a jingoistic rant (71% were for the war as Michael Kingsly likes to point out), the media completely lay down and did not press the lie; and those who did know better were " TO POLITE" to raise hell. There are times when cream of wheat behavior and politness hurts people. Like the good whites in the south going along with segregation for so long. If I had lived in the south they would have been burning crosses on my lawn and as an old man I would be proud to tell my children. If I had lived-lol. History has said repeatedly that this is exactly how Hitler rose to power. Good men and women failed to stand up for what is right. Everything I have said about this administration is backed up by fact. Lyndon Johnson and the generals pulled the same stuff with Viet Nam. Neither Iraq or Viet Nam did anything to us and we destroyed both countries. We should be ashamed!
