I don't know about today, but I can tell you for certain that back in the early 80s, Americans were treated as very welcome guests in S. Korea. Of all the countries I visited in uniform, S. Korea was by far the most welcoming place I went to.

Conversely, the place I was treated the worst, even including Southeast Asia, was at Newark Airport, NJ.
