Remember the biggest losers in the housing bust are the developers, builders and the financial institution holders of all the paper. Most of the public who bought at the top had little skin in the game anyway and those that make a quick buck lost it all just like in the dotbomb era.. Ownership society was a fallacy as was most of the GWB years as the rate of home ownership plunges back to the low 60's as a huge pool becomes renters again.. So I believe much of that article does make sense only many Americans feel like it is a recession in real terms since inflation rates have been understated.
