If you bother to look, you'll see that all the latest IPCC temp reconstructions look very much like Mann, and this is nearly a decade later. Why has the work of M&M & Wegman not held the day with the science community?

Apparently you can if you use Mann's algorithm.

why will it be upward facing rather than downward facing?

Some will face upward and some will face downward. However Mann's methodology selectively emphasizes the upturning series.

I still haven't been able find anything from anyone with the statistical background of Wegman showing than Wegman was incorrect. Perhaps you could point me to an article refuting his analysis?
