Profit margins mean nothing. You're not counting overhead, fees and surcharges. Not to mention greed and callousness.

The drugs US citizens are forced to buy cost 50% - 1200% more than in Canada or even at the VA which has the right to negotiate for lower prices. That is a huge item right there that often litgerally bresaks the financial backs of US citizens.

These days you can fly to India and get an operation of the same quality as in the US (brand new hospitals, state of the art tech, US trained doctors) for 10 cents on the dollar. Okay that's India, but still, the price of US health care more than double any place on earth. But why? It's the corporate profits and overhead. And that's one big reason why our auto industry can't compete too, because $1500 in extra health care costs goes into every US vehicle, but other countries don't have that problem. THis is true for every US-made product basically.

The fact is when you put corporations between patients and doctors they reap off huge slices of the pie, they are the greedy middleman who basically doubles the cost, and worst of all, the more coverage they limt or deny the more profits that make so they have a built-in motivation to give you limited or poor or zero medical attention
