Is yor impression of GW one of an enlightened and sensitive fellow has been a geat leader and who is trying to do the best he can for the poor and down trodden. Is that your image of him? Hell no! I'm on record as proclaiming Bush a disaster probably earlier in his term than any non-Democrat on SI. Only pointing out, in this recent environment of thread self-congratulation, that there's some ugly hyperbole going on here, too. We should either cool the ugliness or the self-congratulation. Otherwise we add hypocrisy to the stew. I have followed little bush very closely and have seen no evidence of real compassion on his part whatsoever. There is a difference between "no evidence of real compassion" and outright sadism. Had you claimed the former rather than the latter I would not have chimed in. Seems to me we may see in Bush some indifference. I see no evidence that he finds satisfaction in causing pain or actively inflicts it as you claimed.
