Here are the Real GDP numbers: Eisenhower 1.9% Kennedy/Johnson 4.5% Nixon/Ford 2.0% Carter 2.9% Reagan 2.3% BushI 1.4% Clinton 3.2% Bush II 2.0% As you can see the economy under Bush has been pathetic, by any measure. And with the economy slowing radically (0.6% for the quarter just released) Bush is likely to be below everyone but his dad by the time his term is over. All this to make my point about the lack of correlation between tax rates and economic performance. SD
