McCain won Florida among those who ranked the economy as the most important issue. That tells me he won because it was 'his turn'.

But he also won Florida among people that thought other issues were the most important issue. The economy issue is mentioned in news articles to highlight that Romney was unable to win on the issue that he claimed was his strong point. Basically, Romney was unable to sell the idea that he was best on that issue.

If Romney was the Republican nominee, I would vote for him...BUT Romney is not a strong candidate in the field. There seems to be abundant evidence of that. Despite a massive spending advantage and a 100% focus, he failed in New Hampshire and Florida. Perhaps he failed because many people do really like McCain or perhaps he failed because he just wasn't that strong.
