Interest is part of it probably yes, for mining people naturally go to a mining exchange ... 'you don't go to a whorehouse for a haircut', is an old saying

But the bigger factor here would be that mining exchange regs permit the posting of results in realistic terms ... look at releases from all our other drill plays, you get hole by hole itemised assays, a good drill plan too from many companies, you can plot progress yourself, you don't need every last figure and decimal point to be loaded in some stupid software programme over the course of lord knows how many decades before you can see w.t.f. is happening

In this case it's deadly because you're dealing with an uber-conservative engineer's mind, in a position secure enough that he can indulge his own style, and cite SEC regs as excuse - Merlin doesn't give a shit where the shareprice goes, it's quite possible he takes perverse satisfaction in seeing it tank and leaving it there
