I don't think either one of us was changing the subject, or creating strawman arguments. To the extent that I repeated the same opinion in the same language it was in response to your repeating the same opinion in somewhat different language. Since the point you where raising didn't change, there was no different response to make. You did add one new idea or grouping of ideas, that Bush failed "to show any sense of duty or adventure, any intellectual curiosity, any empathy or compassion". So I added one new response that even if he was apolitical at some point there was no evidence for the idea that he lacked all these other things. If you provided some real evidence for your claims (which to be fair to you may be impossible even if you really are right) than we could discuss the evidence and the discussion might be "progressive".
