Syb -

One of those Bush quotes is not so stupid:

"I don't know why you're talking about Sweden. They're the neutral one. They don't have an army." —during a Dec. 2002 Oval Office meeting with Rep. Tom Lantos, as reported by the New York Times

Though Bush probably was confusing Sweden with Switzerland, Sweden does happen to be a neutral country as well. Of course, both countries do have armies, anyway.

PS: Many of those quotes really are remarkably dumb. That's just undeniable.

I don't care how educated a person is or the I.Q. as long as that person is open to learning... which in my opinion goes on for a life time...

And inherent in that learning.. by reading... by meeting persons from other cultures etc. one learns that many of those ideas that he had were not accurate. The ability to adapt, the ability to change ones mind...

I always laugh when I read about flip flopping. Who in the world is right all the time. Sometimes information is missing from something that necessitates a mind change.

In today's world there is almost too much to absorb. Overload..
and the smart leader would surround himself with persons who study topics and report to the leader who is enabled to make an INFORMED opinion... I remember Kennedy was known to read every newspaper and editorials to enhance his judgement..

I for one learned a lot from my students.. AND I wish I had a lot of them around today to help me with this computer,
MP3 players my digital camera...etc.. <G>
