Hey, I don't mind you using my name! And yes, that discussion took place in the 90s!! As I said, another time---We are olllllld inhabitants of SI.

YOu know, coug, I am not real sure what you are judging here. Or why.
It's obvious people are here (and educated, well read, thoughtful people at that) to exchange views. They read a lot, are far more current than the norm, and are interested in a variety of opinions. It's pretty obvious where each stands politically, I think. They post well-written articles that MAY reflect their own views, or occasionally to create some discussion.

But why would involvement in a political campaign render an opinion more valuable over any other? It doesn't guarantee a better understanding or a better knowledge; it merely says someone finds a meaningful and congenial outlet for their personal beliefs. There are plenty of people who have no time for outside political activities (e.g., my husband) but I trust his extremely educated, well-considered opinions far more than someone who just happens to be working on a campaign because they might think Obama is hot.

It just seems an odd way to decide whom you pay attention to.

(And I am flattered you don't think I am an elitist yuppie mom)

ok
We disagree

fair enough

I've agreed with almost no one today, about anything.

Just one of those days, I guess.

ps- when you said local politics, or whatever it was you said, I thought you meant discussing our involvement with truly local politics- like school board issues and such things, which (imo) are much too easily traced and identified to be comfortable topics.
