My trip is anecdotal by itself, but it supports the overwhelming empirical evidence about the economy. Besides, I found it interesting that on my trip in the dead of winter with well below normal temps everywhere that there was not one instance where I saw evidence of a slow or slowing economy. In fact I was surprised to see how robust it was everywhere. And a 14,000 mile, cross country, month long trip with stays in a dozen cities is a rather large anecdotal experience, not something to be dismissed out of hand.
