January 31, 2008 08:04pm

Vicious winter weather has killed 15.8 million livestock in China sparking fears historically high food prices will go even higher.

The toll includes 14 million fowl and 870,000 pigs which froze to death or died due to disruptions in feed and water supplies, the government's official China News Service said today.

>> You buy gold because you buy things that you think other people will want to buy, like gold.

not the case during credit contraction

>> they will not be involved in any big business and will eat rice and water when they can get it.
