What Rambi posted: "But in the early 60s, when we integrated, most of the black kids in our small town came from intact families with a working father in the home and very traditional values." struck me was true for white families as well. Most families are no longer in tact- and "freeing" women (to work two jobs and live in poverty with their kids if the man decided to "move on") seems to be the "progress" we've achieved. I do understand the "pros" of liberating women, but they seem muted in comparison to the detriments to family and children. So I guess on this issue I'm conservative, because I can see the statistical effects, and children are my main concern.
